As the name suggests, beetroot dosa is made by grinding beetroot along with your favourite spices and mixing it with regular, normal dosa batter. Not only about the color, these are the excellent ways to make dosa healthy!!
Beetroot dosa tastes so good and the flavor from the spices added will definitely make you eat two more:-) This idea to make beetroot dosa was passed to me from my sister and after tasting the dosa, my husband gave me many other dosa variety ideas.
I followed my pesarattu dosa recipe for the spices to be added , to develop this recipe. You can follow the same or you can modify the spices to your wish. This is the best way to make the entire family eat a healthy dish.
Though the dosa itself is very tasty, any chutney can be used as a side dish. Coconut chutney along with beetroot dosa is the best combination.

INGREDIENTS
1 cup= 200 ml.

- Dosa batter- 3 and a half cups
- Beetroot- 1, large
- Cumin seeds- 3/4th tsp
- Ginger- 1 inch
- Red chilli- 2
- Asafoedita powder- 1/4th tsp
- Mustard seeds- 1/4th tsp
- Urad dal- 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaves- 1 sprig ( chopped to small)
- Coriander leaves- little.

- Seasoning the batter is optional.
- Using sesame oil gives good taste to dosas.
